Vibetober Recap
On hyperstitioning a ~200 person popup village
In October 2025, ~200 people from around the world descended upon New York City for varying stays throughout the month.
There was an activation of the social field, primarily clustered around Williamsburg and Bushwick, off the L Train. Schelling points included Fractal NYC at the McKibbin Lofts, Fractal Tech in Williamsburg, Nook Cafe, McCarren Park, and various friends’ apartments throughout the city. There were meditation nights, picnics, halloween parties, an AI conference, tea parties, explicit plotting, twitter celebrity sightings, and most importantly many small, intimate, and repeated gatherings of close friends in private living rooms.
People organized their own lodging through friends. I myself had organized a group airbnb for the month with a few friends, and some other friends had booked a second house. This ensured there was practically no overhead for me as the organizer.
The aim was to create a decentralized gathering that allowed people to deepen relationships within their local social cluster.

Overall, Vibetober was a major success. Many participants requested a repeat for next year, or perhaps twice a year.
